Akron, Ohio – Union Process has completed a new SDL5, explosion-proof, CE Certified Attritor with interchangeable tanks, for a European customer.

Corrine Seelie, Union Process International Sales Manager, says what makes this mill special is that it is “custom designed to be operated with a 5-gallon or a 1-gallon tank, which makes it extremely versatile and a cross between a lab mill and a small production mill. This gives the customer options for different experiments that require different volumes of material, which are highly efficient for their specific needs.”

The Attritor is made to European standards with a 15 HP, flame-proof motor for use with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) for dry grinding metal powders. The drive is installed in a non-flame proof duty enclosure. The stainless-steel grinding tank has a gross tank volume of nine gallons and is jacketed for cooling. The LCD Human Interface Module (HIM) is programmed to display agitator RPM and Motor KW.

The agitator shaft/arms are specially configured and include a coupling guard with safety interlocks. The system is completed with a control panel, operator station, and one-piece stainless-steel tank cover.
